Antoinette's Cottage

Welcome to the oldest house in Gruene. Our charming inn is full of history with lovely gardens and a large porch to enjoy a cold glass of sweet tea on a warm summer afternoon. We have many antiques yet modern amenities, which will make for a very memorable stay.

This delightful little cottage is in the center of the wonderful village of Gruene. We are located less than 200 steps from Gruene Hall, whether you sashay, two-step, polka or schottische. The house has 5 guest rooms of distinction, with unique en suite baths, exquisite landscaping and a charming patio and outdoor spaces, claw foot tubs, and ceiling fans. The oldest area of the house pre-dates the Civil War (1840-50), with other rooms  added in 1872, and 1880. Several era heirlooms and professional decorations, with modern amenities, will make this a getaway that you won’t forget anytime soon. Each room contains a queen sized bed, and has been named in honor of a Gruene member of the family, and decorated to reflect their personalities. Two of the rooms can accommodate up to 4 guests, one with a trundle bed sleeping 1 more in each twin, and one 2 room suite with a queen bed in each.

Twelve foot ceilings, 9′ windows, hardwood floors and trim enrich the sensation of a step back in time. The proprietor is also the city historian, and would be more than happy to share with you an abbreviated history, or explain architectural oddities about her home and the time period during the course of your visit. We would enjoy  assisting you in celebrating that very special occasion, and make your stay an enjoyable adventure. You can choose from Chocolate Covered Strawberries, Roses, Wine or massages booked nearby. The whole house is readily available for large groups or extended stays, and can accommodate as many as twelve individuals.

Come on over and view the various activities New Braunfels has to offer. Our charming bed and breakfast is situated close to the Guadelupe and Comal River recreation areas and offers a superb spot to watch hummingbirds and other wildlife. We have many attractions to see including the Schlitterbahn Waterpark, shopping in Gruene or in San Marcos at the Outlet Malls, Dancing at Gruene Hall, listening to live music in several places in walking distance, wineries and wine tasting rooms, a variety of wonderful restaurants, and once a month we have Gruene Market Days where you can purchase home made items from our local vendors.  Gruene is also host to many festivals and events such as many 5 K runs, Tour de Gruene bicycle races, the Wine and Music Festival, Clay Festival, Kris Kringle and other activities.  Since Antoinette’s Cottage is in the center of all this, you never need to get in your car till you leave.

Whether you Sashay, Two Step, Schottische or Polka, Antoinette’s Cottage is less than 200 steps to Gruene Hall. Even closer is Oma Gruene’s Secret Garden, where you can enjoy cold beer, wine and great music, or just stay on my porch and listen to the music, while going across the street to resupply your beer.  The front porch is ideal for lounging away the day in the swing or chaise lounge, watching people stroll by or enjoying a good conversation with other guests after a night of dancing.

The wonderful smell of Red Pine greets you as you open the door to Antoinette’s Cottage, and the 12’ ceilings, ornate Victorian trim, and period antiques enhance your step back in time.  Each room is unique with an attached bath, queen sized bed, sitting area, and flat screen TV.  Wifi is available as well as parking, and a small fridge is in each room for your extra beer, wine or sodas.  Since the wineries, restaurants and shopping are within less than 2 blocks, you only need to open your car door to put away your purchases.

Come on down to Gruene for your exciting or relaxing trip away from life’s hassles.

Less than 200 steps to Gruene Hall and all the dining, dancing and shopping Gruene has to offer, Antoinette’s Cottage is in the center of all things Gruene. Twelve foot ceilings, 9′ windows, hardwood floors and trim, antiques and a lovely porch and patio make the oldest house in Gruene even more charming.  Tubing is just down the hill, dancing is just down the block, dining and music are just across the street and wineries are just around the corner, making this the best location in town.  Come on down and sit a spell on the wonderful front porch.
